Pew pew all the things

My gunslinger is now level 37, and officially my higher level character. I'm excited to finally explore a new planet (Quesh), since Balmorra  is old news if you have a level 20ish Empire toon (or 4, like me). And I'm starting to feel the "omg I want a toon at the level cap!" itch. I don't want the story to end, but at the same time, I want to see it, too! Although I don't know what I'd do with a level 50 character... but that's another story!

I watched the storylines of some of the republic classes on youtube, since I don't really plan on leveling anything but my Gunslinger to the level cap, and some of them were pretty good. Others were boring as hell. But it made me want to see what happens to my cutie little smuggler. And I also kinda want to see her marry Corso. Yes, I know, I'm lame. But they're so cute together.

Also, today, for the first time, I took my Mercenary, respecced her healer, and went into Hammer Station with the boyfriend and his RL buddy. I must say that I was level 24, so I really was outleveling the flashpoint, but we were only three, with the bf tanking (lvl 22 Sith Assassin) and the friend dps'in as a level 18 Sith Assassin. It was pretty easy, except when we aggroed the whole room at the beginning, on the first boss where the dps was low and we hit the soft enrage, and on the last boss when the dps got punted off the edge and fell to his death. It was not "hard" in any way, but it was a little less faceroll than the rest. I kinda enjoyed my experience, though my wrist was a bit sore with all the Rapid Shot spamming. It made me wonder if I'd enjoy the Scoundrel/Operative healing. Or if I'd even enjoy having/leveling a healer toon at all.

Back in WoW, I was a healer for a while, but I stopped a long time ago, when it stopped being fun and started feeling like a chore. But when the bf asked me today if I would be interested in trying to heal for him and his friend, I thought "what the hell, I'll give it a try!" I'm not sure I'd want to go all out healer and heal all the things all the time, as I have a strong preference for damage dealing, but healing sure is quite fun once in a while.

So I'm curious. Which class do you prefer for healing? And why? Do you level as a healer, or do you respec when you feel like healing a flashpoint/warzone? Or are you like me and prefer to punch mobs in the face? Let me know!

  1. I remember trying to do Hammer Station with 3 Jedi Knights and a Consular. Getting a bunch of melee to move out of bullet spray and get mobs off healers wasn't a great experience. XD

I'm glad yours went smoothly though! That's good! And pfft... I don't think you're lame! I was disappointed as hell that I... er... maybe I shouldn't say. Spoilers and all. But it had to do with an unnamed class I play and a relationship with an unnamed person. There. Vagueness...

I haven't played a healer on anything but my Operative and he's only heals for RP reasons. But I do enjoy that. It's sort of similar to druid healing in WoW. And I loved druid healing. That was the only class where my main spec was heals. But I'm a dps at heart. I can heal or tank, but I much prefer to punch mobs in the face, as you said!

    1. Ohh druid healing. That's my favourite, too! Damn, now I have to try it. XD

    2. I generally find myself playing healers but I tend to level as a dps for ease of use. I started with a bounty hunter but I got bored with him and leveling as a healer with Mako being a healer just would never have worked. I am currently leveling an operative as a healer and I like his healing so much he is now my main because I really like the way his heals work. Plus you start with a range tank Kaliyo and now when I quest I use Vector just because he puts out more dps and we CC like every pull heh.

I must add I love Druids and druid healing is what made me become a healer. Operative hots are definitely more limited but I still like the play style the further I get up the healing tree. And as an Operative you are melee dps as your other spec so you get to punch mobs in the face with a big pointy stick.

    3. yay druid healer love :D my operative has the equivalent of lifebloom, swiftmend, and in one more level he'll have the equivalent of wild growth XD And then of course you have your straight up heals which I never used on a real druid but sometimes have to on my Operative. You even get something similar to innervate! Well it's like.. baby innervate and super innervate. One gives you slow regen over time and the other is like instantly ALL THE MANA. Only not mana. The stuff I use as an Operative. Whatever that's called....

  2. I have an inquisitor healer and an operative healer. I've done no healing on the operative (she's too low level) but I love inquisitor healing as it reminds me a lot of priest healing on WoW (or single target healing as a shaman, sort of) and those were the two classes I played the most of in WoW as healers. Dependable and familiar. Could be boring for most though, it's certainly the least innovative style of healing!

I understand that leveling itch too. I want to have a character at max level - even if I don't DO anything with it. Hurr. >:

  3. I had a hard time choosing between my sage healer and my scoundrel healer early on, but I like the scoundrel better. Less bust but more staying power. I find the mechanics interesting and it keeps me feeling badass, where some of the republic classes feel kind of milk toast. Contrary to what other people have said, it reminds me more of shaman healing than druid healing. Very rhythmic, very reliant on anticipating incoming damage to set up for higher throughput when you need it. Upper hand reminds me of tidal waves and pugnacity is similar in effect to water shield.

    :)

    1. That should totally say "burst" there in the second line. My scoundrel and my sage are EQUALLY busty.

And by that I mean very. They're both body type 4s. ^^

  4. I'm probably the worst healer ever, as I usually react instead of anticipating. It's one of the reasons why I love to dps more than heal. To be a good healer, you need to know the encounters, to know when (and how) to conserve your resource and when to go all out "OMG big heals nao!!".

To all the healers out there, you guys rock! How you manage to keep people alive when the shit hits the fan is just beyond me.
